Kensington Village could not be set in a more beautiful location. It’s located in West London, right next to downtown, making this a great location for young professionals who work in the city’s core. This neighborhood sits in between the beautiful Thames River and Riverside Drive, right up until Wharncliffe. It’s close to the Blackfriars neighbourhood.
Neighborhood
Kensington Village is known as London’s “best kept secret” for a good reason. This neighborhood runs along the Thames river and is filled with lots of beautiful green space, giving it an idyllic atmosphere. Couple that with the fact that this neighborhood has incredible community spirit, and you’ll understand why most people that move into Kensington Village never move out of it. The neighbors have the kind of community spirit where when the Thames River flooded recently and many people in this neighborhood had their basements flooded, neighbors worked together to help one another out. This neighborhood is filled with charming and unique homes, with most of them being built in the 19th century, although some are newer builds. Kensington is mostly made up of single detached homes, with some duplexes throughout. There is also one high rise apartment building as well. The size and build type of the homes vary greatly, making the price ranges in this area quite diverse from very affordable to on the low-higher end.

Living in Kensington Village is like living in an idyllic haven within the city. The neighborhood runs along the Thames River and is filled with lots of beautiful greenery and nature. It has two parks within the neighborhood— Cavendish Park and Wood Street Park—and is very close by to even more parks, including Riverside Park, River Forks Park, and West Lions Park.
Wood Street Park is unlike any other park in London. It has the food forest, which was a program that the Kensington Village community created together, to allow fresh food to be accessible and free to anyone in the community. Food forests are filled with fruit trees and shrubs, nut trees, root vegetables, and perennial herbs. The neighborhood works together as a community to keep the food forest flourishing and as a result, they have delicious fresh food to enjoy together. Wood Street Park is located in behind the backyards of many houses in the middle of this neighborhood. It’s a location that the community uses often together to hold events. In fact, the neighbors even got together years ago to build a gazebo in this park so that they could hold community barbecues there.
The wonderful community spirit also flows in Cavendish Park, where the neighborhood holds yearly summer concerts. They get musicians and bands to come play at the park. They also hold an incredible Canada Day celebration there, which they use a yearly annual neighborhood yard sale to raise the money for such a celebration. Truly, Kensington Village has a small-town community heart and is one of the most amazing neighborhoods to live in within London.
Of course another great amenity that Kensington Village has is its proximity to downtown London. This means you’re always just minutes away from the Covent Garden Market, unique shopping boutiques, amazingly delicious restaurants like The Tasting Room, The Church Key, and The River Room, and incredible entertainment from Budweiser Gardens, The Grande Theatre, Trap Door Escape Rooms, Victoria Park, and even Imagine Cinemas.
Labatt Park is just around the corner from this neighborhood, meaning that you can walk to catch a London Majors game during the season. The London Children’s Museum is also just around the corner from Kensington Village, which is always great fun for families with young children. There are some businesses and restaurants close by to the neighborhood, along Wharncliffe, such as Under the Volcano and Quynh Nhi. It’s close by to the shopping district at Wonderland and Oxford, which means close access to Sobeys Extra, Costco, Fleetway, LCBO, Food Island Supermarket, Heart Sushi, Hero Burger, and State and Main. It’s also just a short drive to Cherryhill Mall!
