Woodfield

Location

The Woodfield neighborhood is part of Central London. It incorporates part of downtown, while most of it sits just to the Northeast of the downtown core. Its boundary lines reach from Richmond Street to Adelaide Street and from the CRP train tracks down to Dundas Street. The location is incredible for business professionals, students, empty nesters, and people who just love living in a historic area with stunning Victorian buildings. It’s located within walking distance to great shopping districts such as downtown, Richmond Row, and Old East Village. 

Neighborhood

Woodfield is one of the largest Victorian streetscapes within Canada. This beautiful neighborhood is filled with historic single family houses and newer built high-rise apartments, three story walk ups and townhouses. The homes started to be built in this neighborhood after 1840. Most of the homes within Woodfield were built between the late 1800s and early 1900s. Some of the stunning Victorian brick houses have been converted into businesses, and others have been converted into rental homes. The average list price in this area is in the mid to high $500,000s. 

In 2012 it was awarded the People’s Choice “Greatest Neighborhood in Canada” by the Canadian Institute of Planners. It has the Historic Woodfield Community Association that works to preserve the historic nature of this community, while also planning events and looking out for the best interests of the residents. The community has multiple events throughout the year, such as HarvestFest, which is a community potluck and silent auction tradition, carolling, the woodfield Christmas tree sales, dessert potlucks, and so much more. 

Schools

Both Lord Roberts Public School and H.B Beal Secondary School are located within this neighborhood and are in walking distance. On top of that, Woodfield has easy access to the University of Western Ontario and its affiliated University Colleges, which makes it a great location for students.

Amenities

Living in Woodfield is incredible for amenities. You have stunning parks all close by, lots of options for entertainment, almost endless options for delicious places to eat, and of course incredible nightlife. 

Woodfield features one of the most notable parks in the city: Victoria Park. Victoria Park hosts many festivals throughout the year, including Sunfest and Ribfest. In the winter time it has a skating rink and is decorated with beautiful lights and Christmas fixtures to celebrate the holiday season. The park has historic monuments throughout the park and a bandshell that sometimes hosts live entertainment and bands. It also has walking paths, park benches, and green space. 

There are also some other parks that are within walking distance of Woodfield, including Piccadilly Park, McMahen Park, Ann Street Park, Harris Park and even Ivey Park. Ivey Park has a play structure and meets up with the Thames Valley Parkway. Harris Park is a great place to feed ducks, it holds multiple events in the summertime, and has lots of green space. McMahen Park has play structures, a wading pool, and a baseball diamond. 

There are almost too many options for entertainment in Woodfield. It has two escape rooms in the neighborhood (Exodus London Escape Room and Mystery Escape Rooms) as well as being close by to two other escape rooms (Trap Door Escape Room and Escape Canada). The pubs and bars in the area host lots of fun events such as live music, trivia nights, open mic nights, karaoke nights, bingo nights, comedy night, and even game nights. Centennial Hall is also in this neighborhood and this theater has all kinds of live music and events. Grand Theatre puts on incredible plays throughout the year. The London Music Hall has incredible concerts and events. While the Citi Plaza has lots of business, it also is full of shopping and entertainment such as the London Public Library Branch, Dollarama, Bulk Barn, the food court, Imagine Cinemas, Goodlife Fitness, Ardenes, and more. 

There are a number of bars that are in this neighborhood, including Barking Frog, Jack’s and Tabu London, Jack Astor’s Bar & Grill, The Ceeps, El Furniture Warehouse, Pub on Richmond, Barney’s, Poacher’s Arms, The Morrissey House, and Winks. There are also a number of bars, clubs, and pubs that are within walking distance of Woodfield, meaning that the nightlife is always hopping. 

Woodfield has many great restaurants that are worthy of date night, such as Bertoldi’s Trattoria, Renato’s, Symposium Cafe Restaurant & Lounge, Black Trumpet, Garlic’s of London, and The Tasting Room

Woodfield has almost no limit to the amount of delicious places to eat. There are even a ton of great places that are outside of the neighborhood but still within walking distance. Residents of this neighborhood will enjoy delicious places such as Sakata Ramen, Nana’s Pizza, The Root Cellar, Nooners, Sushi Ya, Globally Local, Crabby Joe’s, Lone Star Texas Grill, Zen Gardens, Plant Matter Cafe, Pizza Studio, London Pizza, Miso Sushi, Meltwich Food, Burger Burger, Chil Frozen Yogurt Bar, Burrito Boyz London, Toboggan Brewing Company, Marble Slab Creamery, Fresno’s, Prince Albert’s Diner, Smoke’s Poutinerie London, Dimi’s Greek House, Barakat, and Mykonos

In terms of necessities, there is Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, Covent Garden Market, Value Mart, and plenty of variety stores close by that can take care of the everyday needs.
