University Heights

Location

University Heights is a heavily residential area in the lower Northwest end of London. It runs along Sarnia road right up to the Thames River. This area is close to the University of Western Ontario campus and housing and thus is aptly named University Heights. It’s also just a short drive to downtown London.

Neighborhood

This busy and bustling neighborhood has incredible character with its 1970s and 1980s unique single family homes. As a University district, it has lots of student housing, including Essex Hall, London Hall, Perth Hall, Althouse College, and Western Summer Accommodations. There are a number of three-story walk ups, and townhome complexes, although some of the complexes and walkups are student-oriented housing that is rented out. There are also a few high rise apartment buildings throughout the area. This neighborhood, being so close the Western University, draws a lot of students. Because of the potential rental opportunity and the fact that this is a high-demand area, housing in this neighborhood tends to be on the higher end of the scale. While this neighborhood is mostly residential, the area closest to the Thames River does have lots of walking/biking trails and forested areas.
