The Gorhamclarke Triangle

Location

The Gorhamclarke Triangle neighborhood is located in East London. It’s a small neighborhood that is nestled within the Argyle neighborhood. Its strange name actually comes from mixing the first part of the name of the three roads that form the borders of this neighborhood, the shape of which is a triangle. Those roads are Gore Road, Hamilton Road, and Clarke Road. This location is mostly residential and its situated right above the Thames River. It has quick and easy access out of London, making this a great location for commuters. 

Neighborhood

This small neighborhood is mostly residential, with the Clarke Road side of the neighborhood entering into a more commercial area. The Gorhamclarke Triangle is mostly made up of single family homes. There are a number of mature trees in this neighborhood and some of the homes within this neighborhood have sizable backyards with lots of trees and grass. While the majority of homes are single family, there are also a few three-story walk up apartment buildings and a handful of side split duplex houses. The homes within this neighborhood were built between the 1970s and the early 2000s. Most of the homes in this area fall within the higher $200,000s, to the mid $400,000s range. 

This neighborhood falls under the Argyle Community Association, which seeks to improve the quality of life of residents within this neighborhood and represents their common interests. They search for ways to promote the wellbeing of the community. 

Schools

There are a number of schools within this area that service this district. London Christian High is a Christian Private School and sits within the middle of this neighborhood, making within walking distance, although because it is a private school, it is mainly funded by tuition, which the family would have to cover.

Amenities

This neighborhood is close to the Hamilton Road business district and is also close to Argyle Mall, which has an LCBO, Walmart Supercenter, Staples, Canadian Tire, Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill, as well as multiple other stores and restaurants. 

River East Optimist Park is almost right in the center of the neighborhood. It has lots and lots of green space that is great for playing catch running around with friends or setting up games of flag football or frisbee. It has picnic tables, accessible paths, and large, shady trees. It has a playground and a basketball court. 

Kiwanis Park is a beautiful, large, forested park that has stunning views. It has pathways that make for great family walks. It has stunning water views that run through it as well. The trails link back up with the Thames Valley Parkway. 

There are some great amenities that are just outside of the neighborhood’s border. The Bob Hayward YMCA is just a short drive from the neighborhood. It has a number of great youth programs available. The YMCA center has a 25 meter pool, a gymnasium, a fitness center that has a full and diverse range of equipment, a cardio floor, saunas, child-minding programs, wellness coaching sessions, a tree house jungle gym and so much more. Meadowlily Trail is actually within walking distance for part of this neighborhood and has beautiful views and 4 kms of trails that are perfect for family hikes. It’s also a great place for birdwatching. 

Another amazing amenity within walking distance of The Gorhamclarke Triangle is East Park. East Park is a great place to make memories and for families to enjoy a day together. East Park has over 100 acres of park space, which also has covered picnic spots. It has a water park with lots of water slides, a splash pad, and even a wave pool. It also has a large go-kart track and bumper cars! For those who love golf, there is a golf course, mini golf, and even a driving range at East Park. They have batting cages, a rock climbing wall, a jungle gym, and even an arcade. 

London Sikh Society is also located within this neighborhood and serves the Sikh community within London and even surrounding areas. The Gurdwara (place of worship) is open to everyone, no matter if you are of the Sikh faith or not. The London Sikh Society also serves as a resource for those within the general public who wish to learn more about the Sikh faith. It also holds Punjabi classes every Saturday at the Notre Dame Catholic School. 

The Bethel Christian Reformed Church is also located within The Gorhamclarke Triangle. They hold services every Sunday at 10AM and have multiple events throughout the year. 

While most of this neighborhood is residential, there are a few commercial areas along the outside border of the neighborhood. There is a great strip of commercial auto businesses along Clarke Road: CK Auto Sales, Auto Parts Centres, London Custom Truck & Car Repair, Dixie Auto Trim, Nation-Wide Oil Spray, Andy’s Auto Wreckers, Ken’s Auto Sales & Service. 

Spare Parts Diner is a great little join for people to enjoy local eats. It’s right along Clarke Road in among the auto businesses. It serves incredible breakfast and lunch. 

For conveniences, there is a shopping plaza at Hamilton and Highbury that is just a quick and short drive away from the neighborhood. It has a No Frills, Kohn Meat Market, two gas stations, a bank, a nail salon, Game Cycle, as well as a McDonalds, Subway, and Tim Hortons

Curinga Italian Canadian Sport Club is also located within this neighborhood. It celebrates the history and heritage of the Italian Community within London. They host a number of events throughout the year that celebrate Italian holidays, traditions, sports, and feasts.
