Summerside

Location

Summerside is an up and coming neighbourhood tucked in the southeast corner of London, Ontario! The location of this community is ideal for those who value their privacy and prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With this being said, the location offers quick access to amenities and the rest of the town. Its boundary lines go from Highbury Ave North to Jackson Road and from Bradley Ave to Commissioners Road. Since this neighborhood’s main intersection is Commissioners Road and Highbury Ave, it’s located on one of the primary arteries of London – providing residents with a quick connection to the city at large and Highway 401. 

Neighborhood

Buyers can expect to see single-family detached homes and some townhouse complexes. Development in Summerside began as recently as the past decade, so greenery in the area is sparse, but will develop in the next few years. Of course these recent development means modern homes with stunning curb appeal fill the neighborhood, making it a beautiful place ot live. Houses for sale in Summerside are relatively affordable. The lower-end price tags start at $249k for attached condominiums and are perfect for investors or first-time buyers. New builds currently under construction will have a price tag around $520k. These are beautifully designed homes perfect for growing families. 

Schools

There are a number of great elementary and secondary schools that residents of Summerside can attend. A good number of them are French and French Immersion schools. Both École Secondaire Gabriel Dumont and École Élémentaire Catholique Saint-Jean-De-Brébeuf fall within the actual boundaries of this neighborhood and are within walking distance for the kids.

Amenities, while not directly in the neighbourhood, are easily accessible and very close by. For essential shopping, residents can head to Commissioners and Highbury. Here, residents can find home essentials, restaurants, and necessities at Dollarama, Food Basics, Pond Mills Animal Hospital, Shoppers Drug Mart, the Fire Station, Tim Hortons, Fireside Grill and Bar, banks, gas station, Little Caesars Pizza, Subway, 7-Eleven, and Burger King. 

For more extensive shopping opportunities, residents can head ten-minutes south to Wellington Road and Commissioners Road. This offers access to a stretch of big-box retailers, dining and entertainment, such as The Beer Store, Staples, Dollarama, Metro, FreshCo, Shoppers Drug Mart, Mandarin, Cora, Montanas, Crabby Joes, Papa John’s Pizza, banks, Rogers, gas stations, Canada Post, Pet Valu, South Street Burger, Starbucks, McDonalds, and Tim Hortons. 

There are two significant parks located in the area. Carroll and Meadowgate Parks provide accessible soccer fields, spray pads, play structures and green spaces. In addition to these parks, residents can head to Meadowlily Woods Environmentally Significant Area. This provides residents with access to trails and natural forestation. 

Of course one of the biggest draws to a location like this is how convenient it is for those who commute or travel a lot for work as it’s close to the 401 and to all of the major arteries to get out of town.
