Old South

Location

Old South is a relatively large neighbourhood in the (you guessed it) south end of London, Ontario. The district spans east from Wharncliffe Road South to Adelaide Street, with the Thames River creating the northern border and Emery Street enclosing the south edge. The location is ideal for those who want to feel tucked away from the busyness of the city centre, but still have access to all essential amenities and entertainment. Residents can reach the downtown core in thirty minutes by foot or five minutes by car. The most notable section of Old South is Wortley Village. It is regarded amongst Londoners as an area that exudes a small-town feel full of vibrancy, locally owned shops, restaurants and a sense of community.

Neighborhood

Since this neighborhood was developed in the mid-nineteenth century with most of the homes being built in the turn of the 20th century, there are a lot of gorgeous older homes with a ton of charm. The houses for sale in this area span from small single detached ranches and larger single family homes to cottage-style homes. Many of these houses are ideal for small families, young professionals or investments for rental properties. Old South is home to plenty of detached houses that have recently been renovated. This minimises potential repair costs and services for future homeowners. The neighbourhood’s entire northern border is the Thames River. Because of this, there is plenty of green space and trails.

This is a diverse neighbourhood, rich with culture and a very present sense of community. The people who live here come from all walks of life and value the inclusivity of the neighbourhood. The Old South Community Organization represents the common interests of the neighborhood, organizes community events, and seeks to improve the quality of life for its residents.

Schools

There are a few options for students from grades one to twelve in this neighbourhood. On top of that, Victoria Public School is also located at the top of the neighborhood and allows for students to walk to school easily.
