Norton Estates

Location

Norton Estates is part of the Westmount neighborhood in Southwest London. Its boundary lines start at Commissioners Road and continue down to Southdale Road, and they continue between Wonderland Road and Andover Drive. The location is mainly residential, but is close by to multiple shopping and commercial areas in London that it makes for a very convenient neighborhood to live in. It also has quick and easy access to the highway, making this an ideal location for commuters. There are a few great family-friendly parks within Norton Estates, making it a great location for families with younger kids. 

Neighborhood

The majority of the homes in Norton Estates were built in the 1960-1980 era. A lot of the homes have the same or similar layouts on the inside. There are many raised ranches, side splits, and back splits in the Norton Estates neighborhood. The advantage to older homes like these is beautiful, large, and mature trees in both front and back yards. These are the kinds of trees that are perfect for tying up tire swings or building tree forts in. Norton Estates is mostly filled with single family homes. While some of them are sizable, most of the homes are on the smaller side of single family homes. Although there are also townhouses, apartments, condos, and three story walk ups within the Norton Estates neighborhood as well. The average list price is in the mid $300,000s. 

This neighborhood is filled with families, and contains a few great family-friendly parks, and is also just five minutes away from Springbank Park. Westmount mall and a large commercial shopping plaza are so close to the neighborhood, that it provides incredible convenience. Norton Estates is also located just 15 minutes to downtown. 

Schools

W. Sherwood Fox Public School is in the middle of the neighborhood, making it within walking distance and a great choice for families who love to have the option of their kids walking to and from school or coming home for lunches. Saunders Secondary School is right at the edge of one side of the neighborhood, meaning that it is also within walking distance for some of the area. There are a number of schools that service this district, including French Immersion, Catholic, and Public schools. Families will find that both elementary and secondary schools fall under this district.

Amenities

The Jesse Davidson Park is a great spot for families to enjoy the outdoors and get some sunshine. For the athletically inclined, it has a baseball diamond and soccer fields. There is also a lot of open green space, which is great for playing catch or throwing around a frisbee. They also have a playground and swings for those who love traditional park activities. They also have a splash pad, which is perfect in the hot summer months. There is also public washrooms for changing in and out of swimsuits, and there is even a water fountain which is perfect for filling up water bottles. For more low-key family fun, there is a lengthy trail which has beautiful views and is even paved enough that little ones can ride their bikes down the trail, and there are also picnic tables under trees for shaded picnic lunches. 

Westmount Lions Park is spacious with a large soccer field and a baseball diamond. It also has a playground and swings and a long, paved trail, making it accessible. Right near the playground is the Forest Edge Community Pool, where families can go to cool off and get in fun exercise during London’s hotter months. 

There is a large, commercial shopping area located at Southdale and Wonderland that is conveniently close by to Norton Estates. Here you can find FreshCo and Loblaws for all of your grocery needs. For everyday essentials, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollar Tree, Dollarama, Home Depot, Staples, Canadian Tire, Bed Bath & Beyond, and JYSK are all right in this shopping plaza. For fun shopping there is Michaels, Mastermind Toys, Mark’s, Marshalls, Urban Barn, Winners, Sport Chek, HomeSense, LCBO, Party City, and Bouclair Home. For fun and entertainment, Adventures on Wonderland and Palasad South are great choices for families. There are also banks and gas stations in this area, which is highly convenient. In terms of delicious places to eat, Williams Fresh Cafe, Swiss Chalet, Buffalo Wild Wings, Marble Slab Creamery, Starbucks, Wok Box, East Side Marios, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Tim Hortons, Boston Pizza, and Milestones are all conveniently in one location so that all that families need to worry about is deciding who gets to choose where to grab dinner. 

Westmount Mall is right across the street from Norton Estates. While the mall holds a lot of commercial offices, it also has the Superking Supermarket, a food court, Cineplex Odeon Cinemas, and a handful of really great shopping stores. Within the mall’s plaza, there is also Kelsey’s Original Roadhouse, and Veloce Italian Kitchen

For golf enthusiasts, both the Highland Country Club and the Thames Valley Golf Club are close by to this neighborhood, making it super convenient and easy to steal away for a few rounds of golf on beautiful summer days. 

Families will also love the fact that Storybook Gardens and Springbank Park are just a short drive away!
