Meadowlily Woods

Location

Meadowlily Woods is a beautiful, wooded neighborhood located on the Southeast side of London. It runs under the Thames River (below Hamilton road) and goes down to Commissioners Road East. The borderline of this neighborhood goes from Highbury Ave over to where Hamilton Road and Commissioners Road meet together. Meadowlily Woods is situated right across from the Summerside neighborhood. The location is amazing for commuters, as it’s just a quick and short drive to the 401 and the 402. Similarly, it’s also very close to Veterans Memorial Parkway. This location is mostly a wooded area with stunning green space and Thames River views. 

Neighborhood

This is an absolutely beautiful neighborhood to live in. The majority of this neighborhood is made up of green space and forested areas with a small residential area at the corner of Hamilton and Commissioners as well as some homes down Meadowlily Road. The houses down Meadowlily Road have large lots, are surrounded by large trees, and have a ton of privacy from neighbors. Living on Meadowlily Road gives you feel of living in the country while still being part of the city. 

The two main residential areas at the corner of Commissioners and Hamilton are Victoria on the River and Victoria Flats by Sifton Properties. These homes are beautiful modern new builds with stunning river views. In Victoria on the River there are single family homes starting in the $500s and townhomes starting in the high $300s. Some of the homes in this community have tranquil pond views, some have views of the Thames River, and home have walk out lots on wooded ravines. It has been deemed “the ultimate playground for living”. Victoria Flats is another beautiful community with both multi-family residence as well as two-story, detached single family homes that start in the $500s. Many of the single family homes here have stunningly large lot sizes. 

Schools

Meadowlily Woods has a number of schools that service this district. There are a number of French Immersion elementary schools in this area, including public and Catholic. For secondary, there are both public and Catholic school choices for this area.

Amenities

This neighborhood is amazing for people who want to feel like their home is a haven, set in a serene environment and away from the busyness of the city. The area is full of forested areas and it feels set far enough away from busy city streets. At the same time, it’s close to a few great amenities, and is an ideal location for people who commute or enjoy getting out of the city throughout the summertime. It’s situated just a quick, short drive from Veterans Memorial Parkway, the London Airport, and even 401 and 402. 

One of the beautiful amenities close to this area is the Meadowlily Trail. It’s one of 16 incredibly beautiful Environmentally Significant Areas within London. It has 4 kilometers of well-kept trails that are amazing for family hikes. The trails loop around the area and feature a full and diverse range of plants and animals. It has also been noted as an incredible area for bird-watching. 

City Wide Sport Park is part of the Meadowlily Woods neighborhood. It has soccer fields, football fields, and baseball diamonds. It’s a well maintained sports park that has parking, bathrooms, and a concession. Families with dogs will love the fact that the Pottersburg Off-leash Dog Park is so close by and is a great place for dogs to be able to run around and get all of their energy out. 

There are a couple of commercial shopping areas close by to Meadowlily Woods. The first one is at Highbury and Commissioners. For conveniences this shopping area has a Food Basics, Shoppers Drug Mart, 7-Eleven, and a Dollarama. For fun, the London Public Library is within this plaza as well as the Teen Challenge Thrift Store. For grabbing food on the go, grabbing dinner out, or bringing something home there is Tim Hortons, Fireside Grill and Bar, Little Caesars Pizza, Subway, and Burger King

The second commercial shopping area near Meadowlily is at Highbury and Hamilton. Kohn Meat Market is in this plaza and is London’s oldest butcher shop. Kohn Meat Market has been part of London’s meat history for over 60 years and is an incredible place to check out for your meat needs. No Frills is also in this plaza and is an inexpensive place to buy groceries. This plaza also has banks, gas stations, a McDonalds, a Subway, a Tim Hortons, Howie’s Pet Food Warehouse, and Game Cycle

YMCA of London Youth House is on Hamilton road and will be a great draw for families with kids. It features programming for youths, such as fitness boot camps, music lessons, computer lessons, art lessons, drop-in nights, and even video games! The young people in this area will have a place where they can hang out, meet new friends, find hobbies to love, and get physically active.
