Location
Cranbrook is located in the Southwest area of London. It’s actually part of the Westmount neighborhood. It’s situated West of Wonderland and the borderline of the neighborhood ends before Colonel Talbot Road. The lines of this neighborhood go all the way up to Springbank Drive and stretches down to Southdale Road. It’s a large and highly residential area that is surrounded by commercial stretches along the major roads that run along its borders.
Neighborhood
This large neighborhood is family friendly with pockets of the neighborhood being geared more towards empty nesters and recently retired couples. This neighborhood is filled with big, shady trees and most of the homes have a nice size backyard. There are multiple parks in this neighborhood and there is lots of green space around, making this a beautiful part of the city to live in. There is a large mix of styles of houses within Cranbrook ranging from single family homes, duplexes, townhomes, condos, and even apartment buildings. There are newer and older sections of the neighborhood. The newer sections have new builds with modern condos and large single family homes that have beautiful exteriors and lots of curb appeal. Most of these homes are being built on the western edge of Cranbrook. The older parts of the neighborhood have homes and buildings that were built in the 1970s. The average list price in this area is in the high $500,000s and to the very low $600,000s. This neighborhood has the Cranbrook Community Association of Westmount that is a local community group that plans events to encourage strong community connection and meets to ensure the upkeep and embetterment of Cranbrook.
Schools
There are a number of schooling options for families with children and teenagers. People can choose from public, Catholic, and French Immersion schools in this district. Most students in Cranbrook will attend Saunders Secondary School and Westmount Public School as both schools are located right within the neighborhood and are even within walking distance for a large part of the neighborhood. The Cranbrook neighborhood is full of incredible amenities for families. There is the Bostwick Community Centre, YMCA and Library which serves multiple purposes. It has an indoor pool, a gym, a fitness facility, community kitchen, wellness cafe, child-minding area, 200 meter walking loop, ice rinks, and a double pad arena. Some of the rooms are available to rent out and multiple events and lessons are held there.
There are a few parks scattered within the neighborhood, and Springbank Park and Storybook Gardens ire both just a short drive away, making spending warm, sunny days in the outdoors very appealing for families. One of the main parks within Cranbrook is the Southwest Optimist Park, which has two baseball diamonds and two soccer fields. The Viscount Woods is another park area that has walking trailed through wooded areas. It’s a great place to take family hikes. Cresthaven Park has lots of green space where families and friends can get together to play catch, kick around a ball, throw around a frisbee, or even hold a picnic. It also has a playground with multiple slides and a swingset. There is a small basketball court and a soccer field. The Westmount Park has a baseball diamond and lots of green space.
Lynngate Grove Park is another great park for families. It has expansive green space with a few large, trees that are perfect for picnicking under, there is a playground with slides and a swingset. There is an outdoor community pool that is right next to the park and a convenience store, so families can spend beautiful summer days swimming, playing in the park, and grabbing treats at the store.
Westmount mall is one of the great amenities in Cranbrook. It has the Cineplex Odeon movie theater with the VIP section for family fun, entertainment, and special date nights. It has a small food court, clothing stores, Things Engraved, Bulk Barrel, Stokes, and the Superking Supermarket. In the same plaza is a number of delicious restaurants, such as Veloce, Kelsey’s, Harvey’s, and Domino’s Pizza.
There are a number of conveniences close by to this neighborhood as well such as banks, a Shoppers Drug Mart, gas stations, a UPS store, Food Basics, and more.
There is also a shopping plaza close by at Wonderland Road and Southdale Road. This shopping center gives you home essentials at Loblaws, HomeSense, Bed Bath & Beyond, JYSK, LCBO, Canadian Tire, and The Home Depot. It also gives you shopping fun at Urban Barn, Winners, Sport Chek, Urban Barn, Marshalls, Mastermind Toys, and Babies R Us. For eating out, this plaza has Wok Box, Swiss Chalet, Boston Pizza, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Marble Slab Creamery.
There also close by family fun at Adventures on Wonderland and Palasad South.
