Once a community, always a community. Lambeth hasn’t always been part of London. It was its own township before finally connecting with and becoming part of London, Ontario back in 1993. But that small-town community feeling runs deep within its veins, and people who live here know that when you live in Lambeth you get the best of both worlds: a tight-knit community and big city amenities.
Harvestfest
When fall hits, there is no better neighbourhood to live in than Lambeth. Every autumn the neighbourhood comes together to celebrate Harvestfest. It happens the first week after Labor Day and lasts on the Thursday all the way to late on Sunday night. This four-day fest is filled with some long-standing traditions like the pancake breakfast, a community BBQ dinner, and an outdoor movie night. But the fun and festivities don’t stop there. There are dances for all ages and a parade. There are small rides for kids and a beer tent for the adults. Live music fills the streets and the scents of delicious foods and confections wafts through the air. A baseball tournament brings laughter and competition. And for a moment you could convince yourself that you live in a magical, cozy small town like you see on t.v.
Small Town & Big City Feels
Feel the warmth of a simpler time when you experience the draw of small-town sentiment on main street in Lambeth. Locally owned businesses that ooze family-tradition and charm fill the area. Friendly faces and neighbourly goodwill are the norm here. And while you might think that local stores might have stayed stuck in a time warp, you could not be farther from correct. These little joints have kept up with the times and have gone through many changes over the past decades, making them both modern and traditional at once.
And well those mom-and-pop shops fill the neighbourhood, you’re never far from the conveniences of box stores. A short, six-minute drive will get you to the Wonderland South Plaza that has groceries, restaurants, shops, fitness and fun. You’re only a quick 15 minutes away from London’s downtown core and the 402 is right close by. The amenities are plenty, and you get the extra benefit of living in a cozy community.
The neighbourhood streets are lined with the large, mature trees that immediately make you want to put up a tire swing or build a tree fort. The whole neighbourhood is designed in a way that makes you want to get outside and connect with your neighbours, with plenty of walking trails, beautiful parks, playgrounds filled with little kids playing, and spray pads that take the sting out of the summer heat.
Golfing
Greenhill’s Country Club, which has been part of Lambeth since 1975, has stunning greens that encourage you to pause and take some time to slow down and enjoy life. Avid golfers love having this 18-hole championship course right in their backyard.
If you love the idea of living in a tight-knit community that has the charm and beauty of small-town living but want the conveniences and amenities of living in a big city, then Lambeth is the neighbourhood for you.
